The history of the Trivandrum Club dates back to the late 19th Century
and was better known as the European Club, since the club was exclusively for the use of European community residing
in the erst while Tranvancore State. The club was renamed The Club Trivandrum in 1902 with Mr. Oliver Henry Bensley,
Superintendent of Police, as trustee who was managing the affairs of the club. Sree Moolam Thirunal Maharaja was
honored by inviting him to be a member of the club and was the first Indian member of the Club. Though the first
General Body Meeting of the club was held on 8th February 1902, the club started functioning from 1900 as an established
institute for various past time of the officers of the armed forces and tea planters. Office bearers were elected for
the first time in 1935 with C.B.E. Truscot as President and Mr. G.D.Nokes as Hon. Secretary, His Highness Maharaja of
Tranvancore was made Patron and Diwan Sir C.P.Ramaswamy Iyer, as Vice Patron in 1941. The first Indian to become
President and Hon. Secretary were Mr. R.V.Raja(1964) and Major A.K.Thampi (1960).
